CHRIS PUGH: It pays off to be ready for severe weather in Ohio
I am 48 years old and I have never personally seen a tornado.
I am smart enough to go inside during a thunderstorm.
But that doesn’t mean I should ignore Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Why you should prepare for severe weather
The start of Spring means severe weather season has started in Ohio.
It’s easy to become complacent during storms and not prepare.
“Severe weather can impact Ohio at any time of year,” Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said in a press release. “Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week allows Ohioans the opportunity to learn more about severe weather and be prepared before, during, and after a storm.”
Being prepared for severe weather can save your family’s life
Take this week seriously.
You may know what to do, but does your family know where to go during a storm?
It pays off to be ready for severe weather.
“Ohio’s weather can often be unpredictable, especially in the spring when temperatures fluctuate between warm and cold, which can be a recipe for severe weather or even tornadoes,” said Ohio Emergency Management Agency Executive Director Sima Merick. “We encourage all Ohioans to make or review an existing emergency plan and be prepared.”
Take extra time to ensure you and your family are ready for severe weather.
It could save the life of your loved ones and yourself.
