Youngstown police seeking information about gunshots fired on South Side

City of Youngstown police seek the public’s help investigating multiple gunshots heard throughout the South Side.

Police investigated two scenes where callers told dispatch they heard gunshots on the evening of March 22 starting at 7:45 p.m.

According to police, almost 20 gunshots were fired in the Cottage Grove neighborhood near East Boston Avenue.

A few miles away, police were also called to Douglas Avenue for reports of multiple shots fired. They were called to a house in the Lansingville neighborhood near Pemberton Park on the South Side. No one was injured.

Investigators don’t believe the incidents to be connected at this time.

Officers are investigating the two scenes and seeking the public’s help identifying who may be involved.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators with any of these incidents is asked to contact the Youngstown Police Department Detective Division (330-742-8911) or the Youngstown Crime Stoppers (330-746-CLUE).

No charges have been filed at this time.
