Ursuline High School student wins state Science Day competition
An Ursuline High School student walked away with “Best in Show” at Lake-to-River Science Day, and next, he’ll represent his school at the State Science Fair.
Michael Ge competed in the Ohio Academy of Science’s Junior Academy science fair on March 18 at Youngstown State University.
Chairwoman of the science department at the high school, Jennifer Nagy DePizzo, advised Ge with his project: “Nerve Perception in Relation to Temperature Change.”
What is Lake-to-River Science Day?
According to YSU, Lake-to-River Science Day is an annual STEM collaboration between schools in multiple counties: Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana.
Public, private, and parochial students in grades 5 through 12 submit science projects and visual aids, such as posters, to be judged.
It’s sponsored by YSU and local businesses and civic organizations in the Mahoning Valley.
Next, Ge will participate in the winner’s workshop for State Science Day later this spring.
