Ray ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini inducted Sunday into the National Boxing Hall of Fame

Youngstown native Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini was officially inducted into the National Boxing Hall of Fame in California during a ceremony on Sunday.

“I was honored to be inducted today, being with my boys, into the National Boxing Hall of Fame,” Mancini said on a Twitter post.

The announcement was first made in February.

Mancini had a 29-5 career record and held the World Boxing Association Lightweight belt from 1982-1984.

Other inductees this year include Jackie Atkins, Iran Barkley, Kenny Bayless, Kermit Bayless, Jeff Bumpus, Luis Campas, Graciela Casillas, Roberto Duran, Art Frias, Jimmy Lennon Jr., Juan Manuel Marquez, Ray Mercer, Jimmy Montoya, Michael Nunn, Vinny Pazienza, Bridgett Riley, Nancy Rodriguez, Gabriel Ruelas, Rafael Ruelas, Antonio Tarver and Larry Young.
