Ursuline Sisters Mission opens new office in Trumbull County
One organization dedicated to helping others is expanding from inside Mahoning County to Trumbull and Ashtabula counties.
The Ursuline Sisters Mission opened a new office in Champion as an expansion of one of their programs for adults pursuing higher education.
“We’re excited to have this new space in Trumbull County to connect with and empower Scholars to complete their post-secondary education,” said Keshia Bales, chief program officer for Ursuline Sisters Mission.
Where is the new office for Ursuline Sisters Mission?
The new office, run by program coordinator Alicia Trescott, is located at 4602 Mahoning Ave. in Champion.
The Champion office will “serve as a gathering place for Scholars,” any adult learners going back to school and need extra support, many of whom have children or other responsibilities.
It’s close to Kent State University’s Trumbull Campus and the Trumbull Career and Technical Center.
How is the Ursuline Sisters Mission Scholars Program funded?
The Scholars Program offers students financial assistance, mentoring, and personal and professional development opportunities to ensure they finish their degrees.
“The Scholars Program provides ongoing support to assist them with anything that could jeopardize their ability to complete their degree,” Trescott said.
The Scholars Program has ongoing enrollment. Students with a 2.0 GPA or higher who are struggling financially and need additional support while enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program may qualify.
“We have a nearly 90% success rate with the Trumbull County Scholars, measured either by continued education in their program or graduation,” said Sarah Chill, education director for Ursuline Sisters Mission.
Anyone interested in the program should call Alicia Trescott at 330-744-3147 Ext. 119.
