Saun Markese Peterson was transported back from Columbus after being taken into custody on an arrest warrant for complicity in the murder of Amya Monserrat.

According to the Mahoning County Sheriff’s records, a suspect allegedly involved in the shooting death of 15-year-old Amya Monserrat has been transported to their custody.

Peterson’s arrest warrant was issued on April 25, less than a month after the shooting on the south side of Youngstown at Martha’s Boulevard Tavern, 3503 Southern Blvd., after a reported fight.

Peterson was arrested on May 4 in Columbus on an arrest warrant for complicity in murder.

After being transported into the City of Youngstown Police’s custody, Peterson, turning 21 years old next week, was booked into the Mahoning County Jail today.

First suspect in custody

A 16-year-old who was arrested last Friday appeared in front of Magistrate Karen Romano Melone in Mahoning County Juvenile Court earlier this month.

He is facing felony charges in connection with the shooting death.

According to the Mahoning County Juvenile Court, the defendant has been charged with one felony count of murder and three felony counts of attempted murder.

There is a firearms specification on all three counts of attempted murder that means at least three years will be added to the sentence if he’s convicted.

He is being held in the Juvenile Justice Center.
