Liberty middle school students craft newest menu item at local pizza chain
Pizza Joe’s newest pie flavor is the BBQ Bacon Wing Deluxe, specially chosen out of multiple flavor entries whisked up by students attending middle schools in Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties.
The students worked in teams of three to five to develop a new pizza flavor at the Junior Achievement Innovation Virtual Challenge this month.
The winning team consisted of Mary Ann Woods, Mackenzie Cremeans, and Annabella Duffield (MM&A) from Liberty Middle School, whose pizza pitch was chosen by Pizza Joe’s: The BBQ Bacon Wing Deluxe.
With the promising tagline, “It’s the party pizza!”, their creation features bacon, boneless wings, cheese, and bbq sauce on a garlic crust.
Try the BBQ Bacon Wing Deluxe
There’s an event for the community to try the new menu item from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Pizza Joe’s location in Liberty.
“We are looking forward to our event on Thursday, June 1, at the Gypsy Lane Pizza Joe’s and team MM&A getting the chance to sell their winning BBQ Bacon Wing Deluxe pizza to the Youngstown community and hopefully customers in surrounding communities,” said Katie Seminara-DeToro, Chief Marketing Officer of Pizza Joe’s.
Starting at 4 p.m., Liberty Middle School’s Team MM&A will be handing out samples of their BBQ Bacon Wing Deluxe pizza to the public, and there will be giveaways from Pizza Joe’s staff.
When you buy a full-size pizza, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Liberty Local Schools.
