MIKE BROWN: Eastern Buckeye Conference loses half of its boys basketball coaches within a month
Eastern Buckeye Conference boys basketball coaches are apparently in high demand.
In the past month, half of the league’s coaches have been hired by other schools.
It started when Sean Weatherspoon of Alliance, who led the Aviators to the EBC championship last winter, was hired as the new head boys basketball coach at his alma mater, Canton McKinley.
Next up was Michael Brown of West Branch, who led the Warriors to four straight successful seasons. He was hired as the new head coach of the Division I Hudson Explorers of the Akron-based Suburban League.
Then, just last week, Minerva head coach Shawn Green was named as the new boys basketball mentor at traditional Division IV power Strasburg.
Alliance has filled its head coaching opening with the hire of Chet Harper, a former Aviator standout who played for the late legendary Alliance head coach Harry Fails Jr.
West Branch and Minerva are in the process of filling their vacant boys basketball coaching posts.
