‘Stop the Violence’ march, prayer walk slated Sunday in Youngstown
The United Pastors, Clergy and Community Leaders of Greater Youngstown Against the Violence will be holding their “Stop the Violence” March and Prayer Walk on 2 p.m. June 25.
Where is the walk and prayer march?
The group will be gathering 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Greater Friendship Baptist Church located on the corner of Hillman St. and Lakewood Ave. on the South Side of Youngstown, and then begin the march and prayer walk at 2 p.m.
The march will cover the area of Carroll St. where 13-year-old London Jones was shot and killed.
The group will be praying for peace for Youngstown and against the violence that has infected our neighborhoods.
We talked with Rev. Kenneth L. Simon, Community Mobilization Coalition about Sunday’s event.
In addition to Simon, the group’s leadership includes:

* Dr. Rosie Thompson-Taylor, Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance
* Rev. Jeff Stanford, A.C.T.I.O.N.
* Min. Ted Brown, Mahoning Valley Association of Churches
*In the event of rain, the group will convene at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown, Ohio 44507.
