Here’s how the Mahoning Valley celebrates Fourth of July
Wondering where to go for fireworks and entertainment this Fourth of July weekend?
Mahoning Matters has compiled a list of fireworks shows and parades starting as soon as July 1 for Independence Day celebrations in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.

Mahoning County
- Canfield: Fireworks show July 1 at 10 p.m. Canfield Fairgrounds, plus JD Eicher performs at 7 p.m.
City of Canfield’s Independence Day Celebration parade starts July 4 at 10:10 a.m. at the Canfield Fairgrounds and proceeds along S. Broad Street and around the Green. For more information, visit their Facebook page. - Austintown: Gates open at 4 p.m. July 2 at Austintown Plaza for the Austintown Fireworks Celebration. Music starts at 5 p.m. and fireworks show starts at 10 p.m. Visit the Austintown Plaza Facebook page for more details.
Don’t miss the annual Fourth of July parade in Austintown at noon on July 4. The parade starts at Highway Tabernacle Church and continues north on Raccoon Road to the Austintown Library. - Struthers: Fourth of July parade starts at noon July 4 at the 5th Street Plaza, then will travel north on 5th Street to Sexton Street and turn on Poland Avenue to Smithfield Street, finally ending back at the plaza. - Youngstown:“Fireworks and FoodTrucks” starts at 6 p.m. July 4 in Wean Park and stick around for the fireworks display at dark by Zambelli Fireworks. Free parking is available in the Covelli Center parking lot.
Columbiana County
- It’s the first annual celebration at Columbiana’s Shaker Woods on July 1 starts at 5 p.m. with music and food trucks. Fireworks show starts at dusk. Visit Youngstown Live for more information.
- Columbiana’s free celebration on July 4 at Firestone Park starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 11 p.m. with fireworks.
Trumbull County
- Howland Township Fourth of July parade starts at 10 a.m. July 4 from the Hunter Woods Plaza on East Market St. and finish at Howland High School.
- Newton Falls: The annual parade starts at 10 a.m. July 4 at First Church of God across from Dairy Queen on West Broad Street.
Fireworks show starts at 10 p.m. at Newton Falls Park on East Quarry Street. For more information, visit the Newton Falls Fourth of July Committee on Facebook. - Niles: Mahoning Valley Scrappers take on the West Virginia Black Bears at 7:05 p.m July 4. at Eastwood Field in Niles.
A festive fireworks show will start right after the game. Pick up Pizza Joe’s pizza for $2 a slice at the main concession stands throughout the game. - The W. D. Packard Concert Band’s Fourth of July Spectacular performance will be held at 8 p.m. July 4 in the South Lawn Band Shell. Enjoy a fireworks show at the end of the concert. Special guests include vocalist Helen Welch and guest composers Jerry Ascione and Frank Tracz. Tickets are free.
