YMCA board of trustees selects new CEO
A familiar name is moving up and continuing her decades-long career as the next Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of Youngstown.
The YMCA of Youngstown Board of Trustees announced Beth Scheller would be the next CEO starting August 1.
The current CEO, Tom Gacse, will serve as CEO emeritus until his retirement date of August 31.
Meet Beth Scheller, the next CEO of YMCA of Youngstown
Scheller has spent 31 years working in three different YMCA associations, most recently as Chief Operating Officer in Youngstown.
“I am honored, and it is my privilege to serve as CEO of the YMCA. I look forward to working with the board, staff and community to continue providing excellent programs and services throughout Mahoning County and the Youngstown area,” Scheller said.
Receptions will be announced later to celebrate and honor both Scheller and Gacse.
“We are thrilled that Beth will become our next CEO, and are confident that she has the skills and experience to lead the organization into the future,” said Donald Harrison, YMCA board of trustees president and executive transition committee chair.
Beth holds a Master of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Malone University.
She is certified as an organizational leader with the YMCA of the USA and a certified Praesidium Guardian in child abuse prevention.
In her career, she’s gained experience as a leader, uniting multiple branches of the YMCA in the Mahoning County area to work as one team cohesively.
