THINGS TO DO: Kool & The Gang ‘star’ ceremony, concert
July 1
- The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley’s Annual Point 5K Run/Walk starts at 10 a.m. at White House Fruit Farm in Canfield. Proceeds provide emergency shelter and meals for our neighbors in need at the Mission.
- The last day of Western Reserve Quilt Guild’s show from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Ohio Living Lake Vista clubhouse in Cortland
Children and their caretakers can check out the disco dance party and reading event at Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s main branch. It’s happening at noon in the story time area.
Free music concerts in July at Courthouse Square in Warren start today at noon - 2 p.m. with R&B group The Last Go Around.

Kool and the Gang will be honored with the first star on the Youngstown Walk of Fame at 1 p.m. in Wean Park; catch their live performance at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre at 7:30 p.m.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. at the Canfield Fairgrounds for food trucks, entertainment by JD Eicher, and a fireworks show around 9:45-10 p.m. Pay $2 for admission, kids free; proceeds go to help fund the Canfield Independence Day celebration.
- Emo Prom, a benefit for All About the Pawz dog rescue at 8 p.m. at Westside Bowl in Youngstown
Get tickets to see Crystal Skillman’s acclaimed solo play, OPEN, at 8 p.m. at Club Switch as part of The Other Theater Company’s Pride series. Proceeds will benefit the Rust Belt Theatre Company.
Mahoning Valley Scrappers take on the State College Spikes at 7:05 p.m. at Eastwood Field in Niles. The team is hosting Cleveland Guardians Night with a celebrity appearance by Ellis Burks and he Cleveland Guardians Hot Dogs.
July 2
Harry Stevens Day Festival at 10 a.m. inside Eastwood Field; stay for Scrappers game against State College Spikes at 2:05 p.m. Those who donate non-perishable food items for the Second Harvest Food Bank or new children’s books for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will receive a FREE General Admission ticket to the game. Attendees can get buy one get one free tickets with any non-winning Ohio Lottery instant ticket. Kids can run around the bases after the game.
The Austintown Fireworks Celebration starts at 7:45 p.m. in Austintown Plaza, located at 6000 Mahoning Ave.
July 3
- The Canfield Summer Monday night concert series continues today from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at the Canfield Village Green featuring the country-Christian music band, Justified
