Northeast Ohio Correction Center inmate gets nine-month prison term for assault there

The following cases were handled Wednesday by Judge Cynthia Rice:

  • Carl J. Purefoy, 35, an inmate at Northeast Ohio Correction Center, pleaded guilty to a third-degree assault charge and was given a 9-month prison term. The sentence will be served consecutively to the 10-year prison sentence Purefoy is presently serving for conviction of aggravated robbery out of Summit County. The Trumbull County case involved an Aug. 25, 2019, altercation at Trumbull Correctional Institution where a correction officer was struck in the face while he was trying to break up the fight. The plea hearing canceled a trial that was scheduled to start Monday, July 10, before Judge Cynthia Rice.
  • Jonathan McFall, 31, of Vienna, pleaded guilty to a third-degree escape charge and was given a nine-month prison sentence. The April 2023 case involved McFall being wanted for a possession of fentanyl-related compound charge, arrested and he had overdosed. While recovering, McFall had walked away from custody at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, prosecutors said. Court records show that McFall is under intensive supervision probation on the drug conviction.
  • Auchetes McCorkle, 32, of Northwest Boulevard NW, Warren, received a six-month term in the Trumbull County jail plus a three-year intensive-supervision probation after pleading guilty in March to a fifth-degree felony of trafficking in cocaine. Judge Cynthia Rice said McCorkle was a high-risk to re-offend and his record showed him to successfully complete a intervention in lieu of conviction for a previous drug trafficking charge.
