Celebrating 2.4 million books: How to enter Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library bookmark contest
For no cost to families, Dolly Parton’s literacy program has provided over 200 million books to kids across the United States.
To celebrate this milestone, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library has announced a contest reminiscent of the wonderous tale of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where seven winners will get a huge prize.
What is the Imagination Library of Ohio?
The Imagination Library sends free books to kids until they turn five. Parents of any child between just a day old and five years old can sign up for the program here.
The Imagination Library of Ohio will send a book to you by mail once a month.
As of May, there are over 375,000 kids signed up for the program in Ohio.
According to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Ohio, over ten million books were mailed to Ohio kids enrolled in the program since 2019.

What’s the Dolly bookmark contest?
There are seven Dolly bookmarks hidden inside books kids will receive in September.
According to the website, the seven winners will receive, “if they choose, a video chat with Dolly, a personalized signed letter from Dolly, an autographed photo from Dolly, and four Dollywood Theme Park tickets.”
You have to sign up by July 31 for a chance to win.
Registration must be received and approved by July 31 to be eligible for the September mailing.
On behalf of each winner, the Dollywood Foundation will also donate $2,000 to their local Imagination Library partner “as a thank you to who Dolly calls, the true heroes of her program.”
There are currently 2,700 local program partners.
Local Legacy of Imagination Library
Parton’s father adored reading and always encouraged his family to pick up books from a young age. According to sources, this inspired Parton to start the Imagination Library.
“Several Ohio-based research studies, including one done at Case Western Reserve University, show the positive impact Imagination Library books have in a home, particularly better-preparing kids for kindergarten,” said Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine in 2022.
August 9 is also Dolly Parton Day in Ohio, made official by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine in 2022.
