Mill Creek MetroParks completes construction on East Park hike and bike trail

As summer rages on, it’s the perfect time to hit the local nature trails.

Mill Creek MetroParks announced a new hiking and biking path to try in Youngstown, now ready to be used by pedestrians and bicyclists.

Construction is finished on the East Park hike and bike trail, a 1,700-foot-long connecting trail at Mill Creek Park, about 0.32 miles.

The asphalt path extends the trail from Lanterman’s Mill at Canfield Road (US 62) around the perimeter of Idora Park to the East Cohasset hike and bike trail.

The Ford Nature Center, Lanterman’s Mill, East Newport Boat Launch and East Golf hike and bike trail are now connected through this network of trails.

According to Mill Creek, 80 percent of the project was funded by a Transportation Alternatives Program grant.
