Several counties in Ohio have recruited enough eligible people in their area to work the polls for the special election.

But Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties’ board of elections are still looking to fill all the spots for the special election in their communities.

The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office announced more than 28,000 Ohioans signed up to be poll workers for the August 8 election.

The minimum number of poll workers needed for the state’s special election is 27,587. Secretary of State Frank LaRose set a goal of 31,811 poll workers statewide.

“We’re well underway to being fully prepared for Election Day,” said LaRose. “The men and women who will assist you at your polling location are your friends and neighbors, and we should all take a moment to thank them for their hard work and significant role in making Ohio elections secure and accurate.”

Ohio counties are 89% of the way to reaching the statewide goal.

The 32 counties at full recruitment are as follows: Adams, Allen, Ashland, Ashtabula, Belmont, Brown, Cuyahoga, Darke, Fairfield, Gallia, Geauga, Hardin, Henry, Hocking, Holmes, Lawrence, Logan, Medina, Mercer, Morgan, Morrow, Perry, Pickaway, Portage, Preble, Putnam, Richland, Ross, Tuscarawas, Union, Vinton and Wyandot.
