MIKE BROWN: Game night cash sales must be made available at Ohio high school games
One of the items in the recently passed Ohio Statehouse budget states that high schools must make cash sales for game tickets available for patrons.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many high schools began the policy of using online-only ticket purchases for some high school athletic contests such as football, basketball, wrestling, etc.
When does the ruling start?
Many high schools have continued to use the online ticket purchase system, but with the new ruling, schools must also make walk up cash sales available, starting in October of this year.
In my opinion, this is a good move. There are times when fans don’t know if they will be able to attend a game until the last minute due to work or family commitments. Should that occur, the cash-only option alleviates a last-minute ticket purchase challenge.
Also, the new rule will aid those without technology available at their fingertips.
However, the new ruling does not include OHSAA tournament ticket purchases.
