Alliance man gets 2 years in jail for domestic violence, violating a protection order and intimidating a crime victim

The following cases were handled Wednesday in Judge Sean O’Brien’s Common Pleas Courtroom:

  • Jaquane Peavy, 27, of Alliance, pleaded guilty to charges of domestic violence, burglary, violating a protection order and intimidating a crime victim. He also pleaded guilty in a separate case that charged him with having weapons under disability. The judge sentenced Peavy to 24 months in prison with all counts to be served concurrently. Prosecutors stated Peavy was charged with breaking into a Girard home, assaulting a pregnant woman and then later threatening the woman in a jail phone call. However, prosecutors say the victim was not cooperative in the case. The weapons charge is linked to a traffic stop in Girard involving Peavy on July 27, 2022. A 9mm luger was found in the vehicle. Peavy is not allowed to have a weapon because of a 2018 conviction in California.
  • Jasmine Horne, 34, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty to a bill of information charging her with tampering with evidence. Horne waived her right to be prosecuted in this case through the grand jury process. She will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation conducted by probation officers. Horne faces a maximum 36-month prison sentence. The case involved Horne being accused of concealing 0.423 grams of marijuana as she was visiting an inmate at Trumbull Correctional Institution on Oct. 1, 2017, prosecutors stated.
  • Anthony Carr, 40, of Tenney Avenue in Campbell, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted aggravated possession of drugs and possession of crack cocaine. He face a possible maximum 30-month prison term and will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation. The case involved a May 10, 2022, incident at 1915 Robert Lane NE in Warren, where Carr was found overdosed, prosecutors say.
