The Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board recognizes organizations and individuals improving community wellness and quality of life each year.

The board gives these awards to individuals and organizations in the field of mental health and addiction recovery in Youngstown and surrounding communities.

Nominations open until Aug. 18

Nominations are currently being sought for the following awards:

  • Program of the Year
  • Crisis Incident Stress Management Award
  • Crisis Intervention Team Officer of the Year
  • Front Line Staff of the Year Award
  • Support Staff of the Year Award
  • Leader of the Year Award
  • Advocate of the Year Award
  • Eagle Award

Submit an organization or individual via the nomination form online by Aug. 18.

Once you’ve filled out the form, save it and email it to Marla Golec at mgolec@mahoningcountyoh.gov.

You can also submit your nominations by mail; print the completed form and mail it to the following address:

The recipients for this year are scheduled to be announced Sept. 15.

Lt. Salvatore Pascarella of the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office was recognized in 2021 with the CIT Officer of the Year award.

This year, the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board created the Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors/Drug Overdose Survivor Support teams, shortened to LOSS/DOSS teams.

Volunteers provide outreach to county families and individuals who have experienced loss due to suicide or overdose.
