Stopping by the petting zoo at the Columbiana County Fair
During a visit to the Columbiana County fairgrounds in Lisbon this week, you’ll see more animals than you can keep track of.
You’ll see dairy cows and pigs competing for prizes with their handlers, and you won’t be able to miss the clucking from the hens in the poultry barn.
But a visit to the fairgrounds won’t be complete without a stop at the All American Petting Zoo and Pony Rides.
Visiting the petting zoo
Charlie Beam and his family own All American Petting Zoo in South Carolina.
Before the petting zoo opened officially at noon at the fairgrounds, Beam allowed us inside the arena to see the goats, horses, llamas, alpacas and donkeys.
They’re most excited for families to see the newest additions to the traveling petting zoo.
“Folks will want to come see the new baby llama and the baby goats; they were just born a week ago,” he said.
According to Beam, the price of admission into the fair covers the cost of the petting zoo, so families can come in to see the animals without worrying about buying an extra ticket.
You can feed the animals carrots for a $5 fee.
Beam said they also run pig races at noon which includes some educational tidbits about the animals and crowd participation.
