Youngstown murder defendant found guilty
A Trumbull County jury took about an hour Friday to convict a Youngstown man of all seven felonies plus gun specifications in the Feb. 5, 2023, shooting death of a Milton Street SE, Warren man during a home invasion.
Ronique Requel, 26, will be sentenced by Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan. First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Becker said the state will be seeking life without parole sentence for Requel who was convicted of two counts aggravated murder, one count aggravated robbery, one count aggravated burglary, one count having weapons while under disability, one count intimidation and one count receiving stolen property with the four gun specifications.
Who testified in case?
State testimony came from some 15 witnesses included many patrol officers and detectives who were at the crime scene of the Milton Street SE address where Adam Spaid, 28, was shot to death. A Cuyahoga County doctor testified Spaid was shot 10 times, with massive injuries to internal organs.
Requel took the stand Thursday in his own defense, saying he was coerced into robbing the house which he said was a known drug den. He also denied shooting anybody that night.
Requel, who was found by responding officers on the roof of the home, also testified he found the gun in the living room of the home after the shooting.
