For the past 84 years, local, original art has been displayed as part of the Butler Institute of American Art’s Area Artist Annual Exhibition.

Visitors take in all the artwork put into a showcase created by local artists from Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties, as well as Mercer and Lawerence counties in Penn.

The exhibition is open to artists using all media. Still, it must be an original artwork created within the past two years.

How to submit artwork

To get an entry form for the Area Artist Annual Exhibition, email library@butlerart.com; submissions and fees are due Aug. 26.

You can stop by the museum to fill out an entry form or fill out the entry form available on butlerart.com, then send it back to the museum or drop it off.

Selected pieces will need to be dropped off by Oct. 7.

The local artists’ exhibition opens Oct. 29 through Nov. 19 on the second floor of the Butler Institute of American Art.

Visitors will be able to check out local art for no admission cost.

According to the Butler Institute’s Facebook, Mary Urbas will judge this year’s exhibition.

Urbas has been in art for 38 years as a gallery owner, curator, teacher, consultant and artist.

If you have questions about the exhibition, contact Jean Shreffler, the Area Artist Annual Exhibition curator.

You can email library@butlerart.com or call (330) 743-1107.
