Getting together in Warren to celebrate music, arts and youth
There are two events you’ll want to check out both happening in Warren on Saturday: Grace A.M.E. Church’s Celebration of Youth Day and the Modern Madness Festival.
Celebration of Youth Day
GRACE A.M.E. Church and Rev. Shane K. Floyd are sponsoring a Celebration of Youth Day.
The citywide event starts at noon- 5 p.m. at 1137 Main Ave. in Warren.
“It’s so important that we all do our part to help provide safe outlets for our youth within the community,” Floyd said. “We will have drawings for bicycles and iPads, giving away school supplies and gift bags for the kids.”
According to GRACE A.M.E Church, there will be giveaways for school supplies and free haircuts for kids.
The Warren City Health District’s Wellness on Wheels will be there, just one of many sponsors for the event.
Check out a face painting booth, bounce house and games like basketball and Double Dutch jump rope contests.
Modern Madness Festival
This weekend, Modern Methods Brewery and Youngstown Queer Talent team up for a day-long celebration of live entertainment.
Modern Madness festival starts at noon until 11 p.m. at Dave Grohl Alley.
All-day admission passes are $10 each, which includes a pint of Modern Maddler, a Lemon Radler brewed specially for festival day.
The set list includes music by Unc D, Dream Journal, Friendship Commanders, Lake Lake, Slug, Meat Department, Infini-Tribe and Indig0forest.
Guests can watch a burlesque show hosted by Lady C and a drag show hosted by Nina Sfertu.
The Dinner Theater Rejects, including Chloe, Kage Coven, Jackie Knutti, Eric Lewis, Jaxa Froot and Joe MyGosh, will perform a comedy show.
Some of the vendors setting up at Modern Madness will include Sarah’s Ceramics, The Makers Design and Spray Paint Art by Charli.
