Area high school football marching bands featured during performances
In addition to the beginning of high school football season, this time of year features dozens of events featuring the high school marching bands that produce the halftime entertainment during grid action.
Upcoming band nights include:
- The 40th annual Lakeview High School Band Night will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Don Richards Stadium located behind the high school. Gates open at 6 p.m. Performances will come from bands from West Middlesex, Pa., LaBrae High, Niles McKinley, Howland High, Mount Union University and Lakeview High. Tickets are $7 and $5 for students and senior citizens and can be purchased at the high school office, Daybreak Music and Girts Music 101.
- Niles McKinley High School’s 43rd annual band night, featuring bands from Niles, Howland, Mathews, McDonald, Mineral Ridge and Warren G. Harding. The event is set for 7:30 p.m., Wednesday Sept. 6 at Bo Rein Memorial Stadium. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
- Mineral Ridge Show of Bands will be a musical review of nine area marching bands from Western Reserve, Jackson Milton, McDonald, Mathews, Girard, Struthers, Lowellville, Niles and Mineral Ridge. The event will take place 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Joe Lane Sports Complex off Route 46 in the Ridge. Admission is $6, $4 for senior citizens and students and children age 5 and younger are free.
Other local band nights will occur at Liberty High (Aug. 23); Boardman High (Aug. 26); Austintown Fitch (Aug. 28); at Matthews High (Aug. 30); at Canfield High School (Sept. 9) and at Warren Harding High School (Sept. 23).
