Columbus poets to appear at September Lit Youngstown event

Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader Series features Columbus poets Andy Roberts and Chuck Salmons 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Westside Bowl in the lower level Trophy Room.

Tony Armeni will co-host the reading, which will be followed by an open mic and the drawing of the winning ticket for an original birdbath handsculpted by Armeni, being raffled as a fundraiser for Lit Youngstown.

Andy Roberts is the author of three chapbooks from Pudding House Publications and five from NightBallet Press. Recent publications include American Life In Poetry, Atlanta Review, The Midwest Quarterly, and The Sow’s Ear Poetry Review. He lives in Columbus, where he handles finances for disabled veterans.

Chuck Salmons is recent president of Ohio Poetry Association. His poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including Pudding Magazine, Evening Street Review, and The Ekphrastic Review. He has two chapbooks, Stargazer Suite and Patch Job. Chuck won the 2011 William Redding Memorial Poetry Contest, sponsored by The Poetry Forum of Columbus, and is recipient of a 2018 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for poetry.
