New LGBTQIA+ resource and outreach center in Youngstown to host two-day celebration
Full Spectrum Community Outreach is thanking the community for donating $20,000 to make a new LGBTQIA+ resource and outreach center.
Tim Bortner, president and co-founder of Full Spectrum, and the Full Spectrum volunteers invite the community to celebrate the new center with a free two-day festival this week.
The festival starts at 5-9 p.m. Friday and noon - 9 p.m. Saturday at 660 Earle Ave. in Youngstown.
The day will feature a community yard sale, live music, vendors and shows featuring local drag performers.
Full Spectrum Community Outreach Center will provide monthly peer support groups for youth and adults and LGBTQIA+ inclusion training sessions for area businesses, organizations, schools and first responders.
Resources on site include non-perishable food, clothing, toiletries and shower access for those in need. Free HIV testing and PrEP services will be available at the center and the “Closet of Change” stocked with donated chest binders, wigs, makeup and accessories.
How to help
Bortner says they’re looking for donations like brand-new clothing, toiletries and non-perishable food.
