The annual gathering starts at 10 a.m. at Mahoning Valley 9/11 Memorial Park, 1055 S. Raccoon Road, hosted by the Austintown Beautification Committee.

The Austintown Fitch High School Band and Concert Choir will be performing. During the ceremony, there will also be a 21 gun salute and emergency vehicles on display.

The organization is one-third of the way to hitting their goal of $30,000 for a new walk-through 9/11 memorial museum.

There’s a banner set up keeping track of the donations at the park.

Find more information about the fundraising and how to donate on the Mahoning Valley 9/11 Memorial Park Facebook page.

Wreaths Across America calls for nationwide flag-waving

On Tuesday, Wreaths Across America is calling for a nationwide flag-waving between 9-10 a.m.

Tune into the event hosted live on WAA’s official Facebook page and broadcast over Wreaths Across America Radio.

During the commemoration, hear interviews and stories from volunteers, supporters, veterans, and family members.

“Now, more than ever, it is so critical for communities to come together to remember all those who served and honor their service and their family’s service, especially those who volunteered during the War on Terror following the events of September 11, 2001,” said WAA Executive Director, Karen Worcester. “But more than anything, we must teach our children about these men and women and the courage and commitment it takes to be a part of the small number of Americans who protect all our freedoms. Please join us on September 12, as we wave the American flag proudly like we do each Tuesday morning, and never forget that freedom isn’t free and must be protected.”

WAA encourages the public to share pictures and videos of their flags on Tuesday on social media using the hashtag #FlagsAcrosstheCountry.

Send videos and photos to Wreaths Across America at the submission link.
