Today, Youngstown Education Association representatives are preparing to present a settlement agreement offer to the Youngstown Board of Education.

The board and YEA were expected to meet at 3 p.m. at East High School in the district.

According to YEA spokesperson Jim Courim, their offer contains settlements on each contractual item on which an agreement couldn’t be reached yet.

“Going back to when these negotiations first began and continuing to the present, YEA deliberately brought a slim and simple proposal to the table. These negotiations have been weighed down by countless complications, and today we’re making this offer so that we can bring this whole situation to a resolution,” said Courim.

In his statement, Courim explained the purpose of their offer is primarily to “cut to the chase” of reaching a complete agreement and get Youngstown’s students back to the classrooms as soon as possible.
