Man dies in Youngstown shooting
A 21-year-old Black man died from his injuries after a Monday night shooting in Youngstown.
The incident was reported at approximately 7:10 p.m. in the 2000 block of Summer St.
According to the Youngstown Police Department, officers learned that a family member had found the male, who unfortunately died from his injuries prior to police and EMS arrival.
The Youngstown Police Department Detective Division, Crime Scene Unit, and Mahoning County Coroner’s Office are actively investigating this homicide.
“We continue to ask for public cooperation and support in our fight against violent crime,” Youngstown Police Captain Jason Simon said. “We are steadfast in our declaration that the violence must stop and we know our community is behind that message. The public has been an amazing partner and Youngstown Police Department appreciates the information that is given to us when these tragic and senseless incidents happen, which further solidifies the collaboration between our officers and those we serve.”
This is reportedly the 14th shooting in Youngstown this year.
