According to a traffic report from the Youngstown Police Department, the driver of a car that collided with a striking Youngstown city school district picketer said that a picketer jumped on his car.

At the same time, witnesses said the car driver was holding up a phone that he was recording just before the picketer and the car collided.

In addition, the report says witnesses told police that the driver “came in pretty fast,” hit the teacher and fled to the school. However, the driver told police that he had honked his horn twice at the picketer before pulling into the parking lot where the picketer allegedly ran into his car and fell onto the pavement.

The matter has been turned over to the Youngstown City Prosecutor’s Office, who is reviewing the matter.
