Tony ‘Bear’ Landis to help those in need with motorcycle turkey delivery for Rescue Mission
If you’re looking for a way to support someone in need for Thanksgiving, turn to the Tony “Bear” Landis Turkey Trot for the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission.
Landis, community members and the Rescue Mission work together to ensure everyone has a filling Thanksgiving dinner this month.
He’s asked his local motorcycle group to help deliver turkeys and “all the fixings” on bikes Nov. 18 to the Rescue Mission.
“This is important to me. It comes from the heart, and it makes me feel good to give back to the community, and to make sure that people won’t go hungry on Thanksgiving Day,” said Landis.
You can help Landis and his mission with monetary donations to help pay for the turkeys or by donating non-perishable items like canned vegetables.
“We are so grateful to Mr. Landis and his group for supplying us with much-needed food for our Thanksgiving meal. What a tangible example of God’s love to the people we serve here at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley,” said Mike Byers, kitchen director at the Rescue Mission.
It’s the fifth year for the Landis Turkey Trot, and 50 motorcycles participated in last year’s ride.
This year, the group meets at Masters Bar and Grill at 9 a.m. in Girard before riding to a local grocery store.
They’re expected to load the groceries and deliver them at 1 p.m. to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley at 1300 MLK Jr Blvd. in Youngstown.
