Warren headquartered U.S. SafetyGear Inc. continues to grow
Tarry Alberini, CEO of U.S. SafetyGear Inc., built his company from the ground up.
Alberini, a former councilman in Newton Falls, said his dream job started with a $500 investment that funded the sale of work gloves out of the trunk of his vehicle. Today, U.S. SafetyGear, headquartered in Warren, serves 5,000 customers who purchase personal protective equipment and workplace apparel.
Alberini says his company is one of the Mahoning Valley’s best kept secrets.
“We’re probably more popular outside the area than in Mahoning and Trumbull counties,” Alberini said in a recent interview for the Mahoning Valley Manufacturing Coalition newsletter.
Despite not being a manufacturer, Alberini said it makes sense to join the group.
“We were already selling PPE to some members of the MVMC,” he said. “We might not be a manufacturer, but it’s a huge tie. Some MVMC members did what I did – start from nothing. Everybody has a similar story. The path might be a little different, but the mentality and formula are similar.”
How U.S. SafetyGear has grown
U.S. SafetyGear has new grown to 15 locations - with the most recent opening in Mentor. The company’s 110,000 square foot hub is located Enterprise Drive on the northwest side of Warren and employs 120.
Some of the company’s big-name customers include KraftMaid, Ultium, Foxconn and Nestle.
In 2019, US Safety Gear signed a deal to be the MLB team’s provider of game-day apparel for staff at Progressive Field, which employs up to 1,300 during the Guardians’ 81 home games.
U.S. Safety jobs can include anything from a logo on safety glasses to heat pressing and screening images on t-shirts, hats and other safety gear.
