Warren man faces at least two years in prison after pleading guilty to cocaine charge

The following cases were handled Monday before Judge Cynthia Rice of the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Amadd T. Jones, 36, of Orlo Street, Warren, pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of cocaine felony and faces a possible indefinite prison sentence at a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 12 years. Jones will be sentenced after he undergoes a pre-sentence investigation conducted by probation officers. Judge Rice revoked Jones’ bond because the prison term is mandatory with this particular conviction. Jones was arrested Feb. 19, 2023 by Warren police who responded to a shots-fired call. Some 26 grams of cocaine were found on Jones during a subsequent search, prosecutors stated.
  • Kewon Young, 31, of Chicago, Ill., pleaded guilty to a third-degree having weapons while under disability felony and will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation conducted by the probation department. Young, who could face up to 36 months in prison, was found with a loaded firearm after a traffic stop conducted by Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers on April 17, 2023, in Trumbull Conty. Jones was forbidden to carry a firearm because of a drug-related conviction in Cook County (Illinois) Circuit Court, prosecutors stated.
  • Ronise Collins, 29, of Williamsburg Street NW, Warren, pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony of illegal conveyance of drugs. Collins, who is eight months pregnant, was denied a reduction in bond and will remain in custody until sentencing. Prosecutors pointed to her failing to report to court three times since July as Collins’ public defender argued for a reduced bond. She faces up to 36 months in prison for an offense on Jan. 12, 2023, related to trying to sneak cocaine into the Trumbull County Jail during the book-in process, prosecutors stated. Collins will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation.
