Girard man pleads guilty to pandering of sexually oriented material charges

The following cases were handled Wednesday before Judge Sean O’Brien of the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Jacob Poe, 41, of Taylor Avenue in Girard, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree pandering of sexually oriented material involving a minor. Poe, who faces a possible indefinite prison sentence and will be labeled a Tier 2 sex offender, will be sentenced after submitting to a background investigation conducted by probation officers. Prosecutors say Poe was charged after the internet crimes against child pornography task force out of Cuyahoga County traced pornography being download at the defendant’s IP address. Four other charges dealing with the child pornography case were nulled as part of the plea deal, prosecutors stated. A Tier 2 sex offender must register his address with the local sheriff office twice per year for 25 years.
  • Alexander Lough, 43, of Orchard Avenue, Warren, pleaded guilty to an escape charge, a fifth-degree felony dealing with not reporting to his parole officer as of July 2023. Lough, who was on post-release control for a break-in robbery out of Trumbull County in 2020, will be sentenced on December 20.
  • Kenneth Barnes, 32, of West Wood Street, Lowellville, pleaded guilty to three, third-degree aggravated trafficking in drugs charges connected to a January 2023 investigation conducted by the Trumbull County sheriff’s TAG anti-drug task force. Barnes, who could face up to nine years in prison, will be sentenced after he submits to a background investigation conducted by probation officers. Prosecutors said he sold a confidential informant 6.78 and 6.25 grams of methamphetamine on two days in early January. Later on Jan. 6, a traffic stop and search of Barnes’ vehicle netted 12.12 grams of methamphetamine.
