This morning, the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) hosted a special giveaway for families in Youngstown affected by violence.

City of Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown joined several community partners to deliver gifts to families in Youngstown, called the “Hope for the Holidays” gift giveaway.

Mayor Brown joined Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus today to deliver gifts directly to the homes of families affected by violence.

“We believe in the power of community and the positive impact it can have on the lives of those affected by violence. The Hope for the Holidays Gift Giveaway is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering resilience and unity within our community,” said Guy Burney, director of the CIRV.

Organizations joined together to work on event

WRTA, the Youngstown Park and Recreation Department, Youngstown Fire Department and Youngstown Police Department also showed up this morning to support the “Hope for the Holidays” gift giveaway.

“I am honored to join CIRV and the community in spreading hope and joy during this holiday season. The Hope for the Holidays Gift Giveaway exemplifies the strength of our community when we come together to support one another,” said Mayor Brown.

Even more community partners helped make “Hope for the Holidays” happen, including CCA, Compass Family Services, The Susie E Barnes Foundation, Loud 102.3, The RESPECT League, Women of Worth and The Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board.
