Warren man gets seven months in state prison for domestic violence
The following cases were handled Monday morning before Judge Cynthia Rice of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:
- Raymond Combine II, 48, of Tod Avenue NW, Warren, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree domestic violence charge and was sentenced to serve seven months in the state prison. The case stemmed from an Aug. 9, 2023, where he assaulted his nephew in Brookfield. The victim sustained a bite mark on the arm and a cut below the eye, prosecutors stated. Combine was charged with a felony because of a previous 2019 domestic violence conviction out of Eastern District Court involving the same victim. The plea deal headed off a jury trial that was scheduled to begin Tuesday.
- William Spithaler, 57, of Davis Peck Road, Farmdale pleaded guilty to charges of grand theft, breaking and entering and vandalism. Spithaler, who operated a logging company in Gustavus, had been accused of cutting down trees in a property that was not his own. The amount of lumber involved was valued at $35,214, which was the amount of restitution he was ordered by the judge to pay the victims. Spithaler who could face a maximum of 42 months in prison, will be sentenced after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by probation officers. The amount of property damage was valued at $1,000.
