Man pleads guilty to felonious assault against 2 Trumbull County correctional officers

The following felony cases were handled Jan. 3 in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Jermaine Montgomery, 23, who is now incarcerated in Madison Correctional Institution in London, Ohio, pleaded guilty to second-degree felonious assault and third-degree assault charges connected to an assault on two prison guards June 20, 2023 at Trumbull Correctional Institution in Warren. Montgomery was immediately sentenced by Judge C. Rice to a indefinite term of four to six years in prison to be served after he serves sentences for convictions out of Licking County. Prosecutors said the latest case involved a search of the cell of a TCI inmate and two correction officers were punched with one sustaining a broken nose.

  • Kevonna O. Marion, 34, Stewart Drive NW, Warren, pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony charge of endangering children. Marion, who could face a maximum three-year prison term, will be sentenced by Judge Sean O’Brien after undergoing a background investigation conducted by probation officers. The case involved a March 2023 incident in a southwest Warren address where a 2-year-old child was accidentally shot in the hand.
  • Patrick G. Spaid, 40, of Phillips Rice Road, Mecca, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree operating a vehicle while intoxicated charge. He will be sentenced by Judge Cynthia Rice following a background check done by probation officers. Spaid was charged after being involved in a motorcycle /vehicle crash in Liberty Township in June 2023.
  • David Johnson, 29, Green Acres Drive, Liberty Township, pleaded guilty to three charges.. aggravated trafficking in drugs (f4), aggravated possession of drugs (f3) and aggravated possession of drugs (f5). Johnson, who could face up to 66 months in prison, will be sentenced by judge rice after undergoing a background investigation. The case involved an investigation conducted by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s TAG anti-drug task force in which multiple controlled buys of oxycodone were executed. A search warrant of the defendants home netted dozens of pills that tested positive for the schedule 2 narcotic. The plea deal also called for the forfeiture of $447 in cash found during the search of the home.
  • Alyssa Scott, 25, Bane Street SW, Warren, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree aggravated trafficking of drugs. Scott who could face up to 72 months in prison, will submit to a pre-sentence investigation before Judge C. Rice pronounces her punishment. The case involved a 2022 investigation conducted by the sheriff’s TAG task force in which two controlled buys of the drug hydrocodone was involved.
