Change up your winter routine by participating in ongoing community events in Youngstown
The new year means setting new goals and intentions.
In 2024, you might be looking to meet new people or discover new ways to stay active during the winter.
Here are a few ongoing community leagues open to all ages and skill levels that’ll be happening weekly in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Indoor pickleball
There’s a pickleball ladder league hosted by the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown starting Jan. 10.
Throughout the first two months of 2024, the JCC will be hosting pickleball matches every Wednesday from 5:30 - 8 p.m. until Feb. 7 inside the JCC, located at 505 Gypsy Lane.
Participants will enjoy competitive indoor play during the winter months. Players will be in groups of four or five and will compete to move up the ladder. There is a maximum of 15 players.
The cost is $30 for JCC members and $40 for non-members. Visit the JCC Youngstown website to register.
Past Times Arcade winter pinball league
Starting this Thursday, join the Past Times Arcade winter pinball league that meets every Thursday from 7 - 9 p.m. in Girard.
If you haven’t visited Girard’s newest attraction on State Street of over 300 pinball machines and over 150 classic arcade games, this is a great chance to see what it’s all about.
The league offers three divisions, so players of all skill levels can participate.
The contest is happening every Thursday until March 7.
There’s a registration fee of $30 for the season or $10 per night. The fees go toward cash prizes and trophies for the top eight players, as well as an end-of-season party.
Doors open for practice at 4 p.m.; there’s no registration fee for Past Times Arcade members.
