Boardman teachers awarded grants
The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence has awarded 15 teacher grants this year worth a total of over $26,000. The monetary cap for each project was increased to a maximum of $2,500 for this grant cycle.
These projects include:
Health Education/Equipment to train and certify students in CPR: equipment including 3 Adult CPR Manikins, AED trainer with Adult and Child Gel Pads, Infant Manikin with CPR Monitor, and 400 CPR student training kits (Boardman High School).
Physical Education-Golf for Elementary: First Tee School Program: equipment to support a safe introduction to golf for all students (West Blvd. Elementary)
Materials for Astro Shed Project: Materials for Boardman High School Wood Shop students to construct a weatherproof and secure storage shed on the BHS campus to house Mobile Sky Imaging and Observation Workstation (telescopes).
Social/Emotional Projects: includes light covers, yoga mat holders, a painting set, SEL card decks, positive affirmation chips, conversation cubes, and a garden potting station for the BCIS SEL Center.
In-Class Library, Flexible Seating: (2 projects) books, “check-out” system, organization supplies, and flexible seating (BCIS) Book sets including biographies, autobiographies, memoirs, and historical nonfiction to be used for literature circles and independent reading (BHS).
STEM/Computer Science and Robotics: (2 projects) EVO Ozobots, Ozobot Crawlers, and Color Code Magnets will allow an introduction to basic programming and robotics. (Glenwood and Stadium Drive Elementary)
Calm Down Corners: 50 SEL Kits equipped with quiet tools that can be used for student self-regulation in the classroom including puzzles, timers, fidgets, books, writing utensils and parchment. (BCIS)
School Wide Sensory Store: Students will have guided access to sensory tools that support the functions of behavior including a mini trampoline, stretch band, sensory bin and chair, balance board, etc. (Stadium Drive Elementary)
Elementary Math: STEM items with storage including a Pixel Art Challenge, Picasso Challenge, Noodle Knockout, Marble Fun, Boogie Boards, Shape Puzzles, BeBlox and more (West Blvd.)
Elementary Math, Science, LA: Hands-on Science, Math, Phonemic Awareness and Language Arts equipment for centers, 2 sets for each subject. (Stadium Drive Elementary)
Equipment to Amplify, Create Visuals & Provide Alternative Communication: (3 projects) HP DesignJet Large Format Wireless Plotter Color Printer (West Blvd), Voice Amplification System, Acoustic Tiles and Hands-on STEM items (West Blvd) Speech and language Vinyl Vocabulary boards to support students who use augmentative/ alternative communication devices (Robinwood Lane).
