A Tennessee man was driving a car that reportedly went off a bridge under construction in the “divergent diamond” work area of Routes 46/82 in Trumbull County.

The driver, identified as Jesse Q. Pierce, said the GPS took him into the area under construction on westbound lane of Route 82 by mistake and his GMC vehicle overturned below the State Route 46 overpass bridge.

The man was found out of his car and appeared to be all right after being checked out by paramedics. Pierce was given a citation for driving on a closed highway, according to reports.

ODOT was advised one of the stacked rebar pillars in the area was knocked down in the crash, reports indicated.
