Man shot while driving in Youngstown and dies from his injuries

A man was shot and later died while driving a car on the east side of Youngstown about 10 p.m. Sunday, according to Youngstown police reports.

Capt. Jason Simon said police went to the 300 block of South Truesdale Avenue for a report of a car that crashed in the woods and caught on fire. Reports indicated that the fire damage to the car was minor.

They found there that the 18-year-old driver was shot and was taken St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he later died. A 18-year-old passenger was not injured.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide and tips can be called into 330-746-CLUE or 330-746-8YPD.
