City of Youngstown ready to unveil revitalization plan in Crab Creek corridor

The city of Youngstown announced the plans to redevelop in Crab Creek industrial corridor will soon be unveiled in the continuous, ongoing city-wide redevelopment.

According to WFMJ, Crab Creek corridor is located on the northeast side of Youngstown near Andrews and Logan Avenues and Albert Street.

The area has struggled economically for the past few years, according to the city. It’s also one of the oldest industrial district in the city.

As part of the ongoing redevelopment, the Department of Community Planning and Organization started to look at Crab Creek corridor, saying it “holds the promise of bringing economic revitalization to the city of Youngstown and fostering connections between the Eastside and the broader community.”

They’ve developed a strategy based on research conducted in the area with a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

The EDA study aimed to “unlock the potential of the corridor for the benefit of the city and its neighborhoods.”

Now, the plan to redevelop Crab Creek corridor for business is ready to be released.

Shaping the future of Crab Creek corridor

The revitalization plan will be revealed by city representatives at a meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 13.

It’s happening at the Eastside Library, and the city is inviting the public to attend and share their feedback.

It’s a chance for community members in the area to review the outcomes of the EDA strategic plan and ask questions.

“The city is inviting residents, business owners and community stakeholders to actively participate in shaping the future of Crab Creek corridor...share their insights and play a vital role in the ongoing revitalization efforts,” city planning officials wrote.
