A Youngstown East Middle School student brought a handgun to school Thursday and showed it to another student before being arrested by Youngstown police.

It appears that the gun was brought from her home, reports indicated.

Police said it didn’t appear that the girl intended to harm anyone at the school or on school property and there was no threat to the public.

She was transported to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center on two felony counts of Illegal Conveyance/Possession of a Deadly Weapon in a School Safety Zone and one felony count of Carrying Concealed Weapons.
