The following cases were handled Monday before Judge Cynthia Rice of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Maurice E. Evans, 23, of Tod Avenue SW, received a 17-month prison sentence on convictions for third-degree possession of fentanyl-related compound, fourth-degree possession of cocaine and fifth-degree aggravated possession of drugs felonies. The case involved a February 2022 investigation conducted by the sheriff’s TAG task force. The judge stated Evans was not amenable to probation and he did not complete an application interview for the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program, thus making prison the only option.
  • Edward H. Moyer, 30, of Northlawn Drive, Liberty pleaded guilty to an amended indictment charging him with fourth-degree aggravated assault felony. Moyer, who could face up to 18 months in prison, will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation conducted by the probation department. The case involved alcohol-fueled altercation on Dec. 23, 2023 at a Liberty Township home, where a 32-year-old woman was scratched with a knife.
