A Youngstown police report on Monday indicated a construction worker was given a citation for illegal dumping within the city limits.

According to the report, a code enforcement officer and community police officer were both summoned to the corner of Gibson Avenue and Franklin Avenue Monday by city Litter Control officer Bob Burke, who discovered someone dumped roofing material on property near that intersection.

The contractor who was tracked by the officers through an address on one of the boxes in the dumping stated he uses pink wrapping and those items may have been dumped by one of his employees, the report stated.

The officer told the contractor, identified as Randy Daniels, that materials with pink wrapping have been found in other illegal dump sites in the city and that he was responsible for the actions of his employees.

The report stated that Daniels was issued a misdemeanor citation for littering on public property. Court records show Daniels appeared in Youngstown Municipal Court on Tuesday, March 12, and waived his right to preliminary hearing. The case was set for trial April 8 before Municipal Court Judge Carla J. Baldwin.
