Several of Pizza Joe’s best pizza makers are taking a special trip to show off their skills in Las Vegas.

The New Castle, Penn. Pizza Joe’s team members will be competing in the International Pizza Expo.

It’s the largest pizza show and it’s been a tradition every year for 40 years.

The contest starts March 18 through March 21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Pizza Joe’s goes plant-based

On Wednesday, Pizza Joe’s Katie Seminara-DeToro is entering the Daiya Foods plant-based pizza competition at the expo.

She’ll be whipping up a plant-based pizza that’ll be up against creations from 29 other chefs hailing from around the world.

“More and more we are serving customers with lactose sensitivity or dairy allergies, as well as customers who are looking for alternatives to traditional meat and cheese products,” she said. “We felt the Daiya Foods pizza competition at the expo would be a great opportunity to evaluate plant-based ingredients on our pizzas and gain feedback from a professional panel of judges and pizza loving peers.”

Fellow Pennsylvania-based Pizza Joe’s employees also entered the competition, including: Cody Llewellyn and Josiah Van Gent from New Wilmington Pizza Joe’s; Gene and Shelley Longo of Liberty Pizza Joe’s; Tony Washington of Girard Pizza Joe’s; and Bobby Washington of Mineral Ridge Pizza Joe’s.
