Niki Frenchko falls to Rick Hernandez as primary pick for Trumbull County commissioner

Voters put their faith in a challenger over incumbent Trumbull County Commissioner Niki Frenchko for the next term, according to unofficial election results.

Rick Hernandez received more votes than Frenchko in this week’s primary election for the Republican nominee for commissioner.

There were 8,023 ballots cast for Frenchko, almost 41% of the total votes.

Hernandez had 11,711 votes, securing the nomination for Republican candidate for the next commissioner.

He’ll face the Democratic candidate Daniel Polivka on November’s ballot.

Hernandez is part of the Hubbard Township Board of Trustees.
