Warren man gets nine months for abduction, domestic violence

The following cases were handled Tuesday before Judge Andrew D. Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Troy A. Oliver, 40, of Judyth Street SE, Warren, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment of abduction and domestic violence and was sentenced to a nine-month prison term. The case involved a Jan. 21, 2024, incident in downtown Niles where a man was seen dragging a female in the parking lot. The female, a 33-year-old, was four months pregnant. The man was identified as Oliver and, according to the Niles police report, the two got into an argument while driving . The woman got out of the vehicle and fell on the ground. The man then chased the woman across a parking lot and then pushed her to the ground and began to drag her by either her hair or the hood of her jacket, the report stated. The woman was taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
  • Matthew B. Rowans, 31, of Ferndale Avenue, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree attempted failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer felony. The case involved a April 21, 2023, chase as Liberty Township police attempted to traffic stop a vehicle that accelerated up to 70 mph going into a residential neighborhood. Rowans could face up to 18 moths in prison and will submit to a background investigation conducted by probation officers prior to sentencing. Rowans also faces an April 17 court date before Judge Cynthia Rice on a fifth-degree aggravated possession of drugs felony.
