A 32-year-old Youngstown woman faces possible charges of OVI and failure to control and was arraigned on an open container of alcohol misdemeanor charge after the Chevrolet Equinox she was driving struck a utility pole about 5:45 p.m. April 3 in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard in Boardman.

The woman was treated by paramedics for a hand/wrist injury, but refused to be taken to a hospital. Officers in searching the vehicle found an half-empty bottle of tequilla behind the driver’s seat and a flask containing alcohol in the glove box. When questioned by an officer, the woman in the ambulance admitted to having “one shot.” The officer determined she was intoxicated through a field test.

Court records show the woman could face OVI and failure to control charges after urine samples are tested for blood-alcohol content. The woman appeared April 4 before Judge Joseph Houser of Mahoning County Court in Boardman and agreed to pay court costs on the misdemeanor traffic offense of failure to control, records show.
