A homeless woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for a mental evaluation after police stated she kicked a car door while the vehicle was stopped for a red light on Midlothian Boulevard about 10:30 p.m. April 8 according to a Youngstown police report.

The woman walked up begging for money at the passenger side of a black Chevy Malibu that had New York registration, the report states. When the driver told the woman she didn’t have any money, the beggar became irate and started to kick the front passenger door, leaving a foot mark, the report stated.

As the Malibu attempted to drive away, the woman followed her making threats. Police apprehended the woman and took her to Mahoning County jail. However, the police report stated, once at the jail, the woman refused to answer questions and jail officials suspected her of drug use. She was transported to the hospital where she continued to be uncooperative, the report stated, and she started to yell, bang her head against the wall and punch herself. At this point, officials decided to hold the woman for a mental health evaluation.

Meanwhile, the woman may face charges of aggravated menacing and criminal damaging, the report stated.
